And we did play! Short, fun trip to Maine for us this past week. JR and I really enjoyed the beaches there. I’ve been to a lot of beaches, but the Maine beach fronts seem more organic and native to the country. Their seafood is amazing. I can’t tell you everything that we did because I would be writing pages on our crusades, but I do want to share a little of the fun stuff. I told you I would share my golfing adventure and rate what my thoughts were on it, so here it is!
Cape Arundel Golf Club is a private, but public-welcoming club that is located in Southern Maine. It has that sophisticated, southern charm I’ve seen in South Carolina. That’s probably the closest comparison I can make besides playing in Massachusetts. MA and ME are pretty similar in seafood tooㄧsidenote. One other sidenoteㄧit is one of the oldest clubs in the state!
- The greens were hard, and you can easily walk the course. We didn’t, however, but I’ve heard the weekends can be a bit crowded for a cart.
- The staff was so friendly!
- It’s a 4 ☆☆☆☆ star course to me.
- I loved the uniqueness of it, and the beautiful, wistful views of the fog as it sits over the course in the mornings.
If you’re interested in the rates, read here. I normally just type them, but take some time and check out their website. The rates are pretty reasonable for where we were, in Kennebunk, Maine. The course sits on the river and its 41 House offers a sit on their porch after your round.
Also while we were feeling the tourist vibe, Fun-O-Rama in York Maine. Nothing fancy, but it was fun to check out. It offers a huge arcade, rides, games, and skeeball. Love that it’s on the beach. Even if you didn’t come for Fun-O-Rama, and you only wanted the beach, it finds you! I thought I’d share our fun finds and this is a little snippet!
A beach we visited and enjoyed was Short Sands, York Beach, Maine. Look at some of the images, including an image on this post. It reminds me of that poem, Annabel Lee, by Edgar Allan Poe. The waters are sad to me at times, but so upliftingㄧespecially with a drink in my hand.
Where are some places you’ve stayed in Maine or fun things you’ve done? I’d love to hear your thoughts and other opinions for my next trip!
